The Rape Assistance and Awareness Program Welcomes
New Executive Director
Denver, CO, June 8th, 2009—The Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP) announces the hire of Dr. G. Thomas Manzione as its new Executive Director. Dr. Manzione is a licensed clinician with 23 years of experience as both a counselor and administrator for various mental health organizations, including Mental Health Corporation, Denver CO and Adams Community Health Center, Thornton CO. Prior to moving to Colorado he served as an adjunct professor of Sports Psychology and Psychology of Interpersonal Relationships at both the University of Alaska and Chapman University.
“Dr. Manzione has the right skill set, energy, and enthusiasm to lead the organization into the future,” said Elizabeth Pearson, Board Chair for RAAP. “We are confident he is up to the task and welcome him on board.”
“I am excited to contribute to the important work of this valuable community organization,” said Dr. Manzione, “and I look forward to working closely with the community, staff and board to bring RAAP to its full potential.”
In addition to his position with RAAP, Dr. Manzione is presently the mental health consultant to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and instructs at the Adams County Law Enforcement Academy.
The Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP) provides support and empowerment to survivors of sexual violence through counseling, advocacy, crisis hotlines and workshops for friends and family. RAAP works to end sexual violence in our community through prevention education, community outreach, and awareness.
RAAP is the only organization of its kind serving Denver, CO and the eight surrounding counties.

As part of the 2009 V-Day Community Campaign, Denver is proud to present a benefit production of The Vagina Monologues to raise awareness and funds for local organizations working to end violence against women and girls.
